You have five options that we’re going to play with on the DSLRs.

Choose a different SUBJECT for each of the five.

EVALUATE AND REVIEW the different effects you created.

Tasks

You will be able to adjust the camera using the manual settings.

You will create a duplicates scene for multiple genres 

 

You need to research and plan a cloning scene. You will work in pairs and create 3 different scenes;

 

  • College scene 

  • Fun scene on the field 

  • Your own choice of scene (Horror, drama etc)

You need to plan and draw/block out your scene (will only be 1-2 tripod shots)

 

Then you need to edit and upload your scenes to your page. Evaluate and review how it went.

LO - Practical planning & completing a brief

Complete a filming brief using new knowledge

Task 1 

 

You will follow the 180 degree rule on this task. Your shots will be static tripod shots with NO SHAKING! We will reshoot until we get it right.

 

180 Degree rule

 

Use the scenarios HERE choose a bench scene to plan and film. Your focus and aim will be to shoot the scene correctly with a tripod.

 

Plan your scene with the documents below 

 

These are the shots you should include:

1. Extreme wide establishing shot
2. Wide shot of the entire scene (at least two takes)
3. OTS mid from one angle
4. OTS mid from the other angle
5. Three close ups of your choice
6. Extension: Include a shot with a different angle

Practical filming 

 

Filming with the correct equipment is key. Use a tripod and the manual settings on your camera film your scene.

 

You should be filming multiple takes for you to then decide on in POST.

LO - Practical planning & completing a brief

 

Tasks

Using new camera techniques and implementing in a brief

Evaluating your end project. 

 

Task 1 - Camera Movements (1 Lesson)

 

Firstly you want to test yourself and the equipment we have to offer. From the list of Camera Movements you want to grab a camera and the appropriate equipment to test.

Show your test results on your wix and reflect on how you could use it in certain scenes.

Task 2 - Chase scene brief (3 Lessons)

​

You now have a chase scene to film! You have been given the task to create the chase scene for a college drama. Character A is chasing character B - can you think why? It must be something with high stakes.

​

Your brief is to create a running chase scene between two characters, you must come up with a 30 second outdoor chase scene focusing on shot types and camera movement. You must include;

  • Outdoor college location

  • 3 camera movements 

  • Handheld camera 

  • Mixture of tracking shots

ONE - you need an idea - high stakes - write this idea out - consider what the characters are like

TWO - analyse an existing chase scene for inspiration -

shot types, shot lengths, how we find out about the characters, what is different/interesting about this sequence

THREE - your own shot list

FOUR - film

You need to use the shot list document.

Once you have filmed and edited you need to upload to your wix and reflect;

  • What went well/ wrong?

  • What shot would you change and why?

  • Is your film effective - is it clear who the main character is and they are portrayed successfully?

HERE is a page of lyrics and the SONG you will need to film and edit an impeccable lip sync. You must clearly lip sync with the original song and only focus on this. You should choose one location and focus on close ups/mid shots of just lip syncing. 

 

Once you have filmed you all need to come back and edit the lip sync. 

 

After you upload and reflect on how you could have made it easier in future.

Task 1 - In Camera Transitions 

 

HERE is a a video of transitions that are useful, you need to film and recreate the ones shown. Focus on shot types, movement and the transition.

 

After you have filmed we now want to edit the transition. This involves MASKING and making your transition as smooth as possible.

You must make a detailed plan including all the documents below. YOU MUST show your process on your wix with your decision making. Reflect as you go.
