IF you want to do something different, something outside the scope of the briefs that have been given…
Outline (before working on Proposal, ideally)
What it is you would like to do. Ideally give a few ideas!
What your role in it is (please be specific!)
What are the potential issues with working in a group?
What is the evidence that you have to work alone/with people outside the class?
Outline why you think the project will benefit from your revised approach...
And we will consider it!
WHY does the project brief say groups???
-
Students should have an individual role that is assessed
-
Students often work by themselves on a project that means they take on too much
-
The media industry relies on teamwork so this is an important skill
What if I have a great idea I want to pursue?
-
Talk to your supervisor after responding to the above questions in Outline
What if another student is going to mess my project up?!
-
Good question. If you can’t trust someone else in the class… you don’t want that to affect your work… so it comes back to, a bit, what skills you want to work on.
If you are working on directing actors then we will mark you on this and related research…
Can I work with other people from outside the class?
-
Yes
Can I work on multiple projects?
-
Yes. If you want to say, pursue sound, it makes sense to do sound for more than one project.
I do want to work in a group… just not classmates… is that okay?
-
Yes
Will I lose marks if I work in a group?
-
It depends if it’s been signed off, briefs need to be signed off by us.
-
If you are doing everything rather than boosting specialist skills this is likely to affect your mark because no one is able to spend time on being a great scriptwriter, director, editor, actor, sound recordist, sound designer, costumes and props organiser…

How will group projects be marked?

-
You will be marked on your work, and your blog needs to be clear if it's not your work.
